my life as a phd student

doctoral students have a lot to do, but if a person can spend three hours a day to learn his expertise, do experiments and do research, then phd study is not a headache for him. it's not about doing this for a week or a semester, but everyday in three years. phd is really a matter of daily habit.

alvi is sharing his life at npu to international students who are willing to study in china

the competition is higher at npu. although i have only been studying at npu for a semester, i found that my classmates are excellent and hard working. the more prestigious the university is the higher the competition. when my classmates have two or three important essays and i have nothing, i feel i should work harder. i believe all chinese students are hard-working, but when i came to npu,i found that they are at next level. they keep good habits every day and they are so focused on what they are doing. (when asked about "involution", he say→ i think it is good, it is a positive thing. i have a lot to learn from their habits. sometimes we go to the lab in the morning at 7 o'clock and come back 11 at night.

i get up before 7 a.m every day, a habit developed when i was in college.  when you wake up early, you can make a plan for your day. and then you are so confident everything is in your plan. but if you just get one hour later and then everything will be like “oh hurry up, hurry up” because we forget mangy things we need to do. if you get up an hour earlier, you have free time to think how to manage everything. it's so good, i think it's very helpful.

after i finish my phd, i really want to work in china. i did my master's degree and phd in china, and my chinese is pretty good, so it's not hard to find a job here. in the past three years in china, i have been to beijing, tianjin, yunnan, kunming, dalian and many other places, but i think the most interesting is xi'an. the city enjoys friendly people, lots of delicious food and fun things to do. i've been here for three years and i'm going to do my phd for following three years, so i'm familiar with xi'an.

my 2021

taking activities at sust

in 2021, i got my master degree at shaanxi university of science and technology. i got admission to npu, one of the best universities in china and i got a scholarship, so everything was good. the biggest regret in this year is that my brother got married in my country but i can't travel back because of covid-19. i have to stay in china and i missed his wedding. i think this is something i shouldn't miss. but my family also understand the situation and they didn't blame on me. i hope the  covid-19 can be finished in 2022, we can travel anywhere and i can go home. the chinese government is working so hard to make it possible, and we hope that in 2022 we can successfully achieve this goal.

what does alvi think of latest covid-19 resurgence
